Fresh water
Materials: Iron, concrete and acrylic paint
The work reflects on the availability of fresh water and the importance of preserving this vital resource for the ecosystem and for humanity. Among the volumes occupied by the forms of the sculpture there is a precise ratio calculated on the basis of a study concerning the global availability of water resources. The research was conducted for UNESCO by Igor Shiklomanov, a Russian scientist who died in 2010, whose research Andreco has been observing closely for some time. According to this study * 97.5% of the planet’s waters are salty and only 2.5% are Fresh Waters. The Fresh Waters are then divided as follows: Ice and perennial snow 68.9%, Deep groundwater 29.9%, Surface waters (lakes and rivers) and soil moisture 1.2%
Work carried out with the contribution of TER Costruzioni srl and the Mario Cucinella Architects studio.
